BROTHER SPOTLIGHT BLOG:
Joseph Sher
Hello everyone! My name is Joseph Sher, and I had the honor of becoming a brother of Delta Sigma Pi in the Spring of 2025. Coming in as a second semester sophomore, I never knew how much I needed DSP until I found it. I knew I was needing and wanting to be part of something more, somewhere that I could surround myself with motivated, passionate, and like-minded individuals – and from the moment I became a brother of Delta Sigma Pi, this has become a passion I want others to explain. I came into DSP knowing that I wanted to go into accounting, but the guidance and support from not just my mentor, Wes Laurenson (‘26), but other brothers led me to add on a minor in Business Analytics.
When I switched my major to accounting during my first semester sophomore year, I knew I wanted to go into audit, but what I did not know was how to connect meaningfully and professionally with others in the industry. The mentorship program laid the foundation for how I have developed not just professionally, but personally as well. From learning how to refine my professional communication skills to conducting coffee chats to tailoring my LinkedIn, the mentorship I received helped me discover my passion in helping others and developing themselves in any way possible. Now, I feel more confident in my ability to rely on the necessary skills during my upcoming Audit Internship with Deloitte in Minneapolis this summer.
Although my time in the chapter has been short, the experiences I have had will last a lifetime. I am so fortunate to now have the opportunity to give back to something that I am so passionate about and that has given so much back to me. Currently, I serve as a Chair for our mentorship program, where I foster the vital mentorship experiences for new brothers while establishing strong connections between all brothers in the chapter. Additionally, DSP has helped me capitalize on my strong strive for leadership, by offering opportunities for involvement in committees, providing assistance with networking and academic development, and passing on my advice and experience of Big 4 recruiting to others. It is so easy to give back to something that I am so passionate about, and I am so thankful for the opportunities I have found as a brother.
Looking at my time in Delta Sigma Pi, it is more than a business fraternity to me; it is a lifetime family that I know will be by my side forever. Each brother is here to help each other succeed, grow, and find their “Why DSP”, which is just a small part of the supportive brotherhood that cultivates the foundation of our chapter. It is so inspiring to see how each brother goes above and beyond day in and day out to ensure the good for others, and I cannot wait to continue to see what the future holds. Delta Sigma Pi has shown me that it is never too late to discover new passions, and will forever be grateful to call this chapter my home!
